Edinburgh Set to Host Scotland's Biggest Ever Cocktail Event this Weekend

Edinburgh is set to host Scotland's biggest ever cocktail event this weekend as 8000 cocktail enthusiasts descend upon the capital for the inaugural Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend, Friday 6th October - Sunday 8th October.

Fifty of the capital's top cocktail bars - including Harvey Nichols, Tigerlily, The Printing Press, and The Voodoo Rooms - are taking part in the event, each having designed a unique signature cocktail which wristband wearers can enjoy exclusively for £4.

Each signature cocktail has been carefully designed in partnership with brand ambassadors and will be shaken, stirred and strained to perfection by Edinburgh's top mixologists. Cocktail highlights include a Willy Wonka inspired 'Violet Beauregarde' cocktail at The Refinery, a tipsy ice cream milkshake at The Boozy Cow, an iced coffee cocktail at Eden Locke created by the recently crowned 'World's Best Barista', a cotton candy topped 'Weekend in Paris' at Sygn, and 21 vegan-friendly cocktails.

Organiser Gary Anderson commented... "After months of planning we are really looking forward to seeing everyone setting off on their cocktail adventure this weekend as they sip, sample and socialise their way around the city. The wonderful thing about the event is the variety of cocktails on offer, with no two cocktails being similar. It's a chance to enjoy your favourite flavours, but also an opportunity to experiment and discover something surprising."

As well as enjoying £4 cocktails, wristband holders also have the chance to register to attend free masterclasses and tastings hosted by the likes of Edinburgh Gin, The Scottish Malt Whisky Society, Arbikie, Leith Gin and various participating bars.

Wristband holders can also enjoy exclusive access to The Boudoir at Brewhemia and the rooftop SKYbar on the top floor of DoubleTree by Hilton, where they can relax with a cocktail while taking in stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and the city's skyline - the perfect selfie opportunity.

For those who want to party into the early morning hours, wristbands provide free entry before midnight to the city's popular late-night venues - Opal Lounge, Lulu and Shanghai.

Wristbands (£6 or two for £11) are available at www.edinburghcocktailweekend.com and can then be collected from the Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend Hub at ANTA on George Street along with a free copy of the ECW Guide. Then it’s time to explore #ECW17!
